Kim Pappalardo, REALTOR® - NEW IN TOWN?

Now, what have you realized is most important to you? Great schools for your children? Good coffee and interesting art galleries? Plenty of restaurants so you don’t have to cook? Whatever you are looking for in your ideal lifestyle, it’s time to figure out your priorities and make a checklist for when you drill down to look at specific neighborhoods and homes.

Narrow down neighborhoods.

Now that you know more about your priorities and what your new town offers, you’re ready to pick out a few neighborhoods. Select neighborhoods based on your price range and proximity to whatever priorities you chose: nature trails, shopping and dining, community amenities, etc.

Find an agent.

Of course, all of this is much easier when you have a dedicated agent working on your behalf. Still, knowing what you’re looking for makes it even easier for your Realtor to help you find it, so don’t skip these steps, even if you have an agent!

HOW TO EVALUATE A HOME ONLINE

Once you’ve gotten familiar with a town and the neighborhoods you want to live in, it’s time to examine each listed home carefully. Here are some tips that will make your home search more successful and keep you from being disappointed.

Stick to the main websites.

Look, I used Craigslist back in the day too. But for the purpose of not being scammed, let’s stick to well-known and well-curated sites such as Zillow, Realtor.com, RedFin and Open Door.
