JOSEPH SCROFANI JD - WELCOME HOME, HERO

CHAPTER 13 Organizing Your Move

Moving is one of the most stressful and tiring experiences anyone can go through. However, it can also be an uplifting, refreshing experience. I give you this to take with you: Nothing remains as it was. If you know this, you can begin again, with pure joy in the uprooting—Judith Minty. It needs careful planning whether the move is across cities or within the same area. It involves a lot of work, from sorting to packing, labeling, unpacking, and arranging all your “stuff” in your new home. Unfortunately, most of us have to experience it at some point in our lives. It’s a necessity that can hardly be avoided or ignored. Luckily, with a bit of help and resources, the stress can be minimized and the possible problems avoided. As with most tasks, organization and careful planning are key to moving. A checklist will help you remain organized when sorting, labeling, and packing your things.

PREPARING YOUR CHECKLIS UR CHECKLIST

Moving your entire home means you must prepare at least two checklists. The first is a checklist of all the items you’ll bring, grouped according to the room to which they belong. In addition to indicating the room, it’s a great idea to number the boxes. This way, you can suggest where each item is packed on your checklist. It will make it easier to sort and identify your things while moving.
