However, professional photographers can “see” your home from different angles and perspectives that you might not have, and they are trained to present the object of their photography in the best possible light (literally). They can advise you on how to stage your home to maximize appeal; if your budget allows, you can hire a stager to rearrange your furniture or bring in rented pieces and accessories. Interior Pictures: First, focus on the inside of your home. Remove clutter, put away laundry, and set aside outdated furniture. Then, remove personal belongings and take down family photos. Shelter pets: If you have pets, you’ll need to do more than hide them from pictures; you'll need to find somewhere to shelter them and remove any evidence of them. Accessorize: A few home accessories with colors that “pop” will go a long way. For example, bright sofa pillows, a healthy green plant, or a vase of colorful flowers can be strategically placed in each room. Brighten: Are your pictures too dark or washed out? Is there not enough natural light coming from the windows? Could you add some light fixtures or lamps to lighten things up? Bright LED lamps in the corners or off-camera can give a dark room the perfect boost. Exterior Pictures: Photos of the outside of your home are equally important. They can make or break a sale; if they’re high quality, they can provide the bait you need to garner the interest of prospective buyers, who will then show interest in seeing the inside.
