About Lauri Bauman When I was only 19 years old, my soon to be husband and I were "gifted" a house. Sounds amazing, right? Well, the gift was a very very old frame house that was 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath and about 1000 SF. Still sounds great! After all it was a GIFT! The family friend was gracious in offering this to us, however, we only had 2 weeks to MOVE the house! So we set out on a very fast paced journey to find a lot to move the house to. By the way, this family friend loaned us the money to buy the lot and move the house.... All because she was so attached to her home! She sold the 10 acres that it sat on, located in the middle of Coppell, but couldn't bear the thought of her home being torn down. To make a long story short, we ended up scouring the papers to find a location and settled on meeting a Real Estate Agent that had the property listed. It was two lots for sale that would accommodate the house and room to add the septic system. Being very young and maybe always seeing the best in things, it seemed like a great start to our marriage to have a home of our own! The lot was in the county on an unimproved private road, with a water coop that couldn't provide consistent or clean water, and the ground was black dirt that turned to mud rather than soaking into the ground. None of which we understood when we signed the papers to buy this lot. All of the above conditions on the lot caused this dream to become more of a nightmare than anything. We worked to add onto the home, and improve the condition by adding a new kitchen, washer & dryer area and a new primary bedroom with bath and walk in closet. All of this was done out
